ANGELENOS

FIRST-

OF-ITS-KIND

LA4LA is a first-of-its-kind government, philanthropy and private sector alliance formed to unlock affordable housing options in Los Angeles at scale and speed.

Combining philanthropic and mission-based capital, LA4LA is working alongside Mayor Bass to rebuild an inclusive Los Angeles we can all be proud to call home.

Because we love LA and the people of LA, we want to take care of everyone who calls LA home.

LA4LA is taking a multi-faceted approach to address 3 key issues challenging the solutions to homelessness in our city:

3. Expertise

Convening expertise and capacity to execute on the Mayor’s mission to build more housing. We develop systemic changes that unlock thousands of entitled, yet unbuilt housing units. We allocate resources and fund experts to get us to faster, more affordable housing at scale.

1. Funding

Current funding and leasing models are too burdensome to provide housing at speed and at scale. We are leveraging the flexibility of philanthropy and the innovation of new financing models to rapidly scale temporary housing and rapidly build permanent housing.

2. Collaboration

Solutions to the intersecting issues surrounding homelessness—housing, healthcare, job creation, and more—are siloed across too many public service organizations. We are the catalyst for unlocking deep collaboration among those most able to advance housing innovation.

LA4LA profoundly believes that to be of Los Angeles does not mean you have to be from Los Angeles. As such, we welcome—and will similarly share—all advancements made towards housing anyone, everywhere in the world.

Please contact us to share and collaborate around innovations to deliver housing right now.

LA4LA IS SEEKING INVESTMENT TO:

1

Unlock Housing in Transit Oriented Communities (TOC)

In partnership with Mayor Bass, we have identified Butterfly’s Haven, a stalled development project, which, with $2.9mm, will provide 60 permanent studio apartments within 6-weeks of funding.

Currently, there are 40,000 housing units entitled through the City’s TOC ordinance. Only 4000 units are complete with tens of thousands of units ready to be built.

2

Convert large-scale vacant and underutilized properties

LA4LA is developing new financial tools and governmental procedures to reduce real and perceived risks in rapidly acquiring existing housing or office buildings to convert into interim and affordable housing. Further, LA4LA is facilitating greater capital flows into overall housing production; production which costs we aim to reduce by 50%.

3

Leverage new financing opportunities for all types of housing

LA4LA is providing funding to enhance credit and create guarantees to enable use of tenant-based vouchers for interim and permanent housing, and to accelerate speed of housing construction.

If your funding mission or expertise aligns with these initiatives, we would love to collaborate with you. Contact us here.
